We have a somewhat tiny stage and sucky budget, but we%26#039;re doing Peter Pan. Is there any way that they would let us fly with harnessess and stuff?
Will the directors fly us?
it all depends on the directors.
most of the groups i know that have done ppan have flown, but your director may be different.
if your worried they won%26#039;t let you fly b/c of money then start looking up harnesses and try to find cheap ones for sale...
Will the directors fly us?
Whatever you do, don%26#039;t try to do it yourself. Flying people is something that MUST be left to the experts, as there are all sorts of problems which can arise - with a professional company, they look at your show and your theatre, design you a SAFE and workable system for your needs, install the system, train up the actors and the operators and, very importantly, do full risk assessments. A small stage doesn%26#039;t necessarily prevent people-flying, the pro companies are experts and have all sorts of ways and means of making it work. Talk to the director (although they don%26#039;t usually control budget) because we can%26#039;t answer that question for you. There are several great companies - assuming you%26#039;re in the States, have a look at www.flyingbyfoy.com or www.zfxflying.com or search for %26quot;stage people flying companies%26quot; - they aren%26#039;t overpriced for the expertise and knowledge that you get. Again, because I can%26#039;t emphasise it enough, DON%26#039;T TRY AND DO IT YOURSELVES as you will hurt someone. The best example of this is when an amateur company doing %26quot;Jesus Christ Superstar%26quot; rigged their own hanging sequence for Judas%26#039; death, got it wrong, and he died. On stage. As part of the show. In front of an audience. DON%26#039;T DO IT YOURSELF.
Reply:We did Peter Pan at my school two years ago. We ended up hiring a company and doing A LOT of fund raisers so that we could fly. We raised ticket prices too. Even so, this year we ended up doing an off broadway play, something our school hasn%26#039;t done in years, so that we could build back up our treasury. It is very expensive to fly, and the royalities for the play are on the more expensive side, and if you are getting the updated music it is more expensive, too. So I don%26#039;t know if you will be flying or not, but these are some issues that you can keep in mind.

What is the best way to find an acting agent?
I live in Texas and I really enjoy acting. My parents do not support me however so I%26#039;m searching for an agent on my own and would love if the yahoo community would be able to help.
What is the best way to find an acting agent?
Invite them to production, in which you have a lead role.
Be careful, there are many scam Talent Agencies looking for vulnerable young actors.
What is the best way to find an acting agent?
Well before you get an acting agent I suggest that you join a casting agency. Apply to al legit agencies that you can find. You will know its legit if they dont make you pay to be in their agency. They will charge you 10-15% of profit you make from your jobs and THATS IT. Eventually one of those agencies will accept you, but you will need a good resume and headshot.
A casting agency really gives you a jump start on your career, it gives you amazing commercial, film, etc auditions! And they will put you in a directory on thier website most likley. That way casters can look throught a directory to find an actor that will fit the role they are looking to fit. And remember the better and more popular the agency the better. That means more casting directors will look at you, and thats a good thing. :)
Good Luck!
Reply:first of all u need to get involved with community theater. The more plays you do; the closer you get to being able to earn equity and the sooner you earn equity; you can become a member of S.A.G. (screen actors guild) Now, once you get into community theater; try hanging out with people who are earning equity pts or people who are already members of SAG -it%26#039;s called %26quot;networking%26quot;. Another way to network is to network thru your computer. Netcat.com is an entertainment networking website; but I really don%26#039;t recommend that you go on that until you%26#039;ve had some real experience. they will only shun you until you have actually done something. Netcat is for all types of entertainers-and producers, directors, gaffers, technicians of all kinds, cameramen/women, models, actors, musicians, everyone....but I would first try networking in person with the people in your community who also would be working in community theater right beside you. Making the union (SAG) is not easy; you have to work really hard for it-play after play after play. If you want to get involved in acting because you think it%26#039;s easy; think again. If you really do want to act after I have lectured you on how difficult and competitive it is; then you should go for it. When you are networking (talking to people in community theater who have made SAG or know someone who has made SAG) ; this is when you should ask about the agent. Because if the person is a SAG member; they will usually have an agent as well. now, mind you, it is not a gratifying and glorious and fulfilling thing like you think it is. Most of the people I have known who had agents usually did commercials. And they would have small parts in Hollywood movies. But most of them just did commercials. But the pay in the commercials was fantastic. Every time they put the commercial on -no matter what station-no matter what time of day-that actor was paid for that commercial. well, I%26#039;ll leave the rest up to you.

Even if you find one, they probably will not be interested in you until you have lots of experience and training. the answer to your title question is In the Yellow Pages.
Reply:First you going to have to go to acting schools for training. Not only one but a couple. Then you should get in local plays, school plays, student films. You could search for auditions on craigslist.com or subscribe to backstage.com The you should get headshots that look like you. Professional headshots are pretty expensive they cost $200-$1000 but on craigslist you could find less expensive headshot that range from $50 to $150. As you get more and more credits on your resume, you may want to go for an agent. An agent gets you auditions and they want people who they think would nail all the auditions they give. If you get a part in an audition. The money you make out of that work you pay 10% to your agent. ONLY 10%. If they ask for money upfront they are a SCAM. Once you get an agent you would start getting a lot of auditions which means more audition. As you make money out of roles you make you may want to get professional headshots. Then in the future you may want to join Union such a SAG, AFTRA , AEA.... HOPE I HELPED

How do i get the rights to a play?
its a peter pan play. i havent even writen a whole scene yet, but making a muical re-write of peter pan, and im wondering how i get the rights to it? and there%26#039;s one song from the 2003 movie that i really love, and i was wondering how i could get that. like who do i ask, what do i do, that sort of thing...
thanks!!
How do i get the rights to a play?
I will answer as best I can:
1) First and foremost Barrie left all of the Peter Pan rights to a childrens hospital in England http://www.gosh.org/about_us/peterpan/co... so there must be an agent or executor there you will need to talk to
In the US the original play script is under copyright till 2023 with Samuel French LTD.
In europe the script is now in the public domain (so i hope you are in eurpoe for your sake) which means you can perform the play without paying royalties, i do not know whether this applies to the story, but I would start with the children%26#039;s hospital
2) Peter Pan 2003 film-- you need to contact the agent of the person who composed the song you like, it might be hard to track that down, find out who wrote the song, see if they have a website and there might be some sort of contact start there.
3) Pretty neat! Best of luck writing

Any advice for an aspiring teen actress who wants to make it big similar to what happened with Hannah Montana?
Yooo. I%26#039;m just a teenage girl, and I really really want to become an actress. I want to make it big like Miley. I know this business is very tough, but I want to go through it anyway. It%26#039;s especially hard for me because I live in the DC area. Help please?? Or is there anything I should know about agents, resumes, and/or auditions nearby? I need as much help as possible, and I%26#039;m trying to do as much as I can this summer! :D

well this isn%26#039;t exactly gonna happen over night. You need time. Most likely you won%26#039;t make it during teen yrs. Adult perhaps? Well just go out for local community plays and test on what you can do. Take singing lessons and do what you can in ur local neighborhood and then once you did look for a talent scout and audition on broadway...make ur way up!!
good luck!

You%26#039;re forgetting something. Her father is an international superstar. HE signed on to do the show before she did. Don%26#039;t compare yourself to her. You%26#039;re not even close to being in the same situation. If you want to act, go ahead. But if your goal is to be the next Hannah you shouldn%26#039;t even try. They already have one, they aren%26#039;t looking for another.
Reply:Miley mostly made it that far because her dad started it (don%26#039;t get me wrong, I%26#039;m a huge Miley fan) but if you really want it bad, try to be in any and all local plays and musicals. Then once you have a good resemay, you can start keeping your eyes open for any open auditions for movies. If you are in an event that agents are at and you are good, then you might get discovered and ta-da, you are on your way to stardom. But this will probably take a lot of time, be patient. Oh yeah, and try to get a variety of roles so on your resemay, they know you have the ability to do anything. Good Luck!!!!
Reply:im just like you. I too live in Maryland right near DC and i want to be a singer/acteress. Im just going to camps, lessons and looking around for plays. let me know if you find any and i will do the same!!

Can someone describe the setting of Romeo & Julie in at leaset a pharagraph or less?
The greater pat of the play takes place in Verona. There are two houses Montague and Capulets who are at variance with each other. the son of Montague family Romeo falls in love with the daughter of Capulet family Juliet without realising that they are from two opposite houses.
Romeo secretly meets Juliet by climbing the ivy creeper to get entry to her house. the nurse helps. A very ramantic scene.
Finally both have to die tragically . the two houses finally decide to give up the hate and live happily after that.
Have you read the drama ? There are some of the finest speeches that shall be remembered till the end of time !

Does anyone know of any REPUTABLE talent or modeling agencies for children in the NYC/NJ area?
My son is interested in acting classes and possibly modeling. Looking around on the web, all I can find are scam-sites. If anyone can suggest real, reputable talent or modeling agencies for children, which are located in the NYC/NJ area that would be great.
I have 2 questions about the Original Broadway Sweeney Todd...?
In the 80%26#039;s, the first tour occured, it starred Angela Lansbury. PBS filmed it. I%26#039;ve seen this version and I%26#039;m curious about a few aspects of it compared to the Broadway one.
In the tour, the sets are pushed around by men who are on stage the whole time, and the set. the main one, is a big cube that is turned to represent differant rooms, Sweeney%26#039;s shop is on top. I%26#039;m just curious because since it is a tour, they would have grooves in the stage to move sets that way.
If anyone could provide me with an answer, more than yes or no, and no IDK%26#039;s, I would really like it.
Thanks in advance!!!!
I have 2 questions about the Original Broadway Sweeney Todd...?
Not all stages are the same. It could have also been a theme that the director was going for.
I have 2 questions about the Original Broadway Sweeney Todd...?
If they needed grooves in the floor, chances are they would tour a false floor which is placed over the stage proper in each venue. It raises the stage slightly, but it means that the floor is correct without having to make a mess of the floor wherever they go, and is a pretty common solution. I worked on a production of Les Mis where the floor had %26quot;railroad tracks%26quot; on it - tracks which guided the barricades and other set pieces, and we had a false floor (we also had a revolve which needed a false floor, but that%26#039;s irrelevant!).
Reply:If it used tracks, then they used a false floor. This is actually pretty common in theater.
Reply:When I did the show years ago, we didn%26#039;t have any tracks -- the bakeshop was on casters and was wheeled around -- controlled entirely by the set crew who followed spiked marks on the ground. It can be done either way.

Wicked(Los Angeles) Seating?
I want to buy tickets to go see Wicked. Im dying to go see it!
Now, what are the best seats available. I%26#039;m a little under budget. I have looked at the prices and the ones I CAN afford are like %26quot;side orchestra%26quot; and back, front and side Mezz. Out of those which one is better.
For those who have watched it, Is it good? Is Eden Espinosa playing Elphaba at the Pantagos now? I hear she%26#039;s really good.

Try and get info on this site: http://hollywood-opportunities.com
Wicked(Los Angeles) Seating?
nothing
Reply:Okay, well I can%26#039;t answer your first question about seating, but I have seen the show and it is fantastic. To find out who is playing Elphie go to wickedthemusical.com and then go to %26#039;wicked cities%26#039; then LA, then click on %26#039;company%26#039; and it should tell you the major people. Enjoy the show!
Reply:Front Mezz. would probably be the best for your first time seeing the show viewpoint-wise. The others would be weird off to the side angles or at the far back.
Wicked is simply amazing and awe-inspiring.
Eden Espinosa left the show on December 30, 2007 and was replaced by Caissie Levy. Caissie Levy had to leave because of her voice on May 11 and now Teal Wicks plays Elphaba.
Current Los Angeles cast
Elphaba- Teal Wicks
Glinda- Erin Mackey

Reply:Front mezzanine offers the best view, you can see the faces and costumes perfectly, while also getting a chance to look at the fantastic set. Here%26#039;s a word of caution, do not get seats in the very first row of front mezzanine, because there is a large bar you have to lean over for the entire show.
Here is a video on youtube of Teal Wicks, current LA Elphaba :http://youtube.com/watch?v=tXUY-h7fKog
And here is the AMAZING Erin Mackey As Galinda ( I saw her while she was the Chicago Galinda--WOW!):http://youtube.com/watch?v=PGkghCI5uMo%26amp;f...

There was a kids show on in the late 90%26#039;s that had a group of late teens early 20 somethings that did short skits (like improv) and the ideas were usually given from kids either in the audience or by mail...it was a Canadian show.

I bought some cheap seats at the cirque du soleil, Corteo. They are I think 5 rows from the top. Will I still have a good experience? I have never been to a show before.

Theatre/acting?
Acting agencies are good for extras and back round actors. It gives you exposure to the right people and the life of actors.

Bolly wood entry is probably restricted, too many sitting on the fence. But I suppose acting in theatre may be easier . Try Kolkatta.

How much do good looks and confidence play a part in hollywoods star's becoming successful?
Have they all gotten there through talent alone? Or good looks and charm?
How much do good looks and confidence play a part in hollywoods star%26#039;s becoming successful?
Its like 80% looks 10% talent 10% family history. Paris Hilton? talent plays a small part.
How much do good looks and confidence play a part in hollywoods star%26#039;s becoming successful?
I would say 49% personality and confidence and
51% good looks.
Reply:For getting their foot in the door - some people are just pulled off the street by a producer having a coffee and seeing someone he/she likes.. That choice very much depends on the personal tastes of the producer. The rest of em have to endure countless rejections in auditions untill they get their big break (which sometimes never comes)..
As for the rest of it - they have a literal army of stylists, PR specialists, personal trainers, writers and make up artists making sure this person come off in the best possible light.
Sooo my answer is no it is not talent alone. Hollywood is full of talented good looking waitresses and bartenders. Persistence and luck are equally important.

Reply:Well while looks might play a rather large part in it- confidence is crucial. Ever noticed how people are naturally attracted to someone, or will automatically look because of the way someone carries themselves, or their confidence that simply oozes from them- not tenacity, just confidence. I think overall, if your lucky enough to get a break confidence and talent will ensure a real career- unlike paris hilton and other such pathetic things
Reply:It really depends on the roll, they might need a non attractive person who is a great person at heart and has a lot of talent.. they might need a gorgeous model who isn%26#039;t as important that doesn%26#039;t have the best talent.. most of the time you really do have to have good looks or a unique look, but you also have to have talent if you want to get into big serious hollywood movies, but then there%26#039;s Paris Hilton who is only famous because of her name and you never really see her being in huge hollywood movie.
