Will the directors fly us?

We have a somewhat tiny stage and sucky budget, but we%26#039;re doing Peter Pan. Is there any way that they would let us fly with harnessess and stuff?
Will the directors fly us?
it all depends on the directors.

most of the groups i know that have done ppan have flown, but your director may be different.

if your worried they won%26#039;t let you fly b/c of money then start looking up harnesses and try to find cheap ones for sale...
Will the directors fly us?
Whatever you do, don%26#039;t try to do it yourself. Flying people is something that MUST be left to the experts, as there are all sorts of problems which can arise - with a professional company, they look at your show and your theatre, design you a SAFE and workable system for your needs, install the system, train up the actors and the operators and, very importantly, do full risk assessments. A small stage doesn%26#039;t necessarily prevent people-flying, the pro companies are experts and have all sorts of ways and means of making it work. Talk to the director (although they don%26#039;t usually control budget) because we can%26#039;t answer that question for you. There are several great companies - assuming you%26#039;re in the States, have a look at www.flyingbyfoy.com or www.zfxflying.com or search for %26quot;stage people flying companies%26quot; - they aren%26#039;t overpriced for the expertise and knowledge that you get. Again, because I can%26#039;t emphasise it enough, DON%26#039;T TRY AND DO IT YOURSELVES as you will hurt someone. The best example of this is when an amateur company doing %26quot;Jesus Christ Superstar%26quot; rigged their own hanging sequence for Judas%26#039; death, got it wrong, and he died. On stage. As part of the show. In front of an audience. DON%26#039;T DO IT YOURSELF.
Reply:We did Peter Pan at my school two years ago. We ended up hiring a company and doing A LOT of fund raisers so that we could fly. We raised ticket prices too. Even so, this year we ended up doing an off broadway play, something our school hasn%26#039;t done in years, so that we could build back up our treasury. It is very expensive to fly, and the royalities for the play are on the more expensive side, and if you are getting the updated music it is more expensive, too. So I don%26#039;t know if you will be flying or not, but these are some issues that you can keep in mind.

What is the best way to find an acting agent?

I live in Texas and I really enjoy acting. My parents do not support me however so I%26#039;m searching for an agent on my own and would love if the yahoo community would be able to help.
What is the best way to find an acting agent?
Invite them to production, in which you have a lead role.

Be careful, there are many scam Talent Agencies looking for vulnerable young actors.
What is the best way to find an acting agent?
Well before you get an acting agent I suggest that you join a casting agency. Apply to al legit agencies that you can find. You will know its legit if they dont make you pay to be in their agency. They will charge you 10-15% of profit you make from your jobs and THATS IT. Eventually one of those agencies will accept you, but you will need a good resume and headshot.

A casting agency really gives you a jump start on your career, it gives you amazing commercial, film, etc auditions! And they will put you in a directory on thier website most likley. That way casters can look throught a directory to find an actor that will fit the role they are looking to fit. And remember the better and more popular the agency the better. That means more casting directors will look at you, and thats a good thing. :)

Good Luck!
Reply:first of all u need to get involved with community theater. The more plays you do; the closer you get to being able to earn equity and the sooner you earn equity; you can become a member of S.A.G. (screen actors guild) Now, once you get into community theater; try hanging out with people who are earning equity pts or people who are already members of SAG -it%26#039;s called %26quot;networking%26quot;. Another way to network is to network thru your computer. Netcat.com is an entertainment networking website; but I really don%26#039;t recommend that you go on that until you%26#039;ve had some real experience. they will only shun you until you have actually done something. Netcat is for all types of entertainers-and producers, directors, gaffers, technicians of all kinds, cameramen/women, models, actors, musicians, everyone....but I would first try networking in person with the people in your community who also would be working in community theater right beside you. Making the union (SAG) is not easy; you have to work really hard for it-play after play after play. If you want to get involved in acting because you think it%26#039;s easy; think again. If you really do want to act after I have lectured you on how difficult and competitive it is; then you should go for it. When you are networking (talking to people in community theater who have made SAG or know someone who has made SAG) ; this is when you should ask about the agent. Because if the person is a SAG member; they will usually have an agent as well. now, mind you, it is not a gratifying and glorious and fulfilling thing like you think it is. Most of the people I have known who had agents usually did commercials. And they would have small parts in Hollywood movies. But most of them just did commercials. But the pay in the commercials was fantastic. Every time they put the commercial on -no matter what station-no matter what time of day-that actor was paid for that commercial. well, I%26#039;ll leave the rest up to you.
Reply:there may be a lot of agents based in Austin. try the internet. this site should be able to help you start out: hollywood-opportunities(dotcom)
Reply:Very easy way is you just go through TV channels. Why because so many programms are conducting TV channels. Through them you can send you photo and ask them to meet any famous person.

All the best
Reply:Wont do you any good to find one, you parents have to sign for you until you are 18. The best way is to know that they are called talent agents, not acting agents. Even if you find one, they probably will not be interested in you until you have lots of experience and training. the answer to your title question is In the Yellow Pages.
Reply:First you going to have to go to acting schools for training. Not only one but a couple. Then you should get in local plays, school plays, student films. You could search for auditions on craigslist.com or subscribe to backstage.com The you should get headshots that look like you. Professional headshots are pretty expensive they cost $200-$1000 but on craigslist you could find less expensive headshot that range from $50 to $150. As you get more and more credits on your resume, you may want to go for an agent. An agent gets you auditions and they want people who they think would nail all the auditions they give. If you get a part in an audition. The money you make out of that work you pay 10% to your agent. ONLY 10%. If they ask for money upfront they are a SCAM. Once you get an agent you would start getting a lot of auditions which means more audition. As you make money out of roles you make you may want to get professional headshots. Then in the future you may want to join Union such a SAG, AFTRA , AEA.... HOPE I HELPED

How do i get the rights to a play?

its a peter pan play. i havent even writen a whole scene yet, but making a muical re-write of peter pan, and im wondering how i get the rights to it? and there%26#039;s one song from the 2003 movie that i really love, and i was wondering how i could get that. like who do i ask, what do i do, that sort of thing...

thanks!!
How do i get the rights to a play?
I will answer as best I can:

1) First and foremost Barrie left all of the Peter Pan rights to a childrens hospital in England http://www.gosh.org/about_us/peterpan/co... so there must be an agent or executor there you will need to talk to

In the US the original play script is under copyright till 2023 with Samuel French LTD.

In europe the script is now in the public domain (so i hope you are in eurpoe for your sake) which means you can perform the play without paying royalties, i do not know whether this applies to the story, but I would start with the children%26#039;s hospital

2) Peter Pan 2003 film-- you need to contact the agent of the person who composed the song you like, it might be hard to track that down, find out who wrote the song, see if they have a website and there might be some sort of contact start there.

3) Pretty neat! Best of luck writing

Any advice for an aspiring teen actress who wants to make it big similar to what happened with Hannah Montana?

Yooo. I%26#039;m just a teenage girl, and I really really want to become an actress. I want to make it big like Miley. I know this business is very tough, but I want to go through it anyway. It%26#039;s especially hard for me because I live in the DC area. Help please?? Or is there anything I should know about agents, resumes, and/or auditions nearby? I need as much help as possible, and I%26#039;m trying to do as much as I can this summer! :D

well this isn%26#039;t exactly gonna happen over night. You need time. Most likely you won%26#039;t make it during teen yrs. Adult perhaps? Well just go out for local community plays and test on what you can do. Take singing lessons and do what you can in ur local neighborhood and then once you did look for a talent scout and audition on broadway...make ur way up!!

good luck!

You%26#039;re forgetting something. Her father is an international superstar. HE signed on to do the show before she did. Don%26#039;t compare yourself to her. You%26#039;re not even close to being in the same situation. If you want to act, go ahead. But if your goal is to be the next Hannah you shouldn%26#039;t even try. They already have one, they aren%26#039;t looking for another.
Reply:Miley mostly made it that far because her dad started it (don%26#039;t get me wrong, I%26#039;m a huge Miley fan) but if you really want it bad, try to be in any and all local plays and musicals. Then once you have a good resemay, you can start keeping your eyes open for any open auditions for movies. If you are in an event that agents are at and you are good, then you might get discovered and ta-da, you are on your way to stardom. But this will probably take a lot of time, be patient. Oh yeah, and try to get a variety of roles so on your resemay, they know you have the ability to do anything. Good Luck!!!!
Reply:im just like you. I too live in Maryland right near DC and i want to be a singer/acteress. Im just going to camps, lessons and looking around for plays. let me know if you find any and i will do the same!!

I want to know about some good acting camps for kids around 12-15 years old.?

Please if you now anything about any acting camp, that isn%26#039;t too exspensive. I dont care if it is over night but i live in the WI area. So please post ANYTHING if you know anything, PLEASE!

Thanks
